Son of Isham Anderson & Rosa Parks.

In 1900 Charles lived in Pine Knot, Whitley, Kentucky. Pine Knot became part of newly formed McCreary County in 1912. His mother was a recent widow & her occupation was given as a farmer.

1st enlistment: On 4 Dec 1908 Charles enlisted in the 103rd Coastal Artillery Corps at Coumbus Barracks, Ohio (now Fort Hayes). In 1910 US Census Charles was a private in the 103rd Coastal Artillery Corps at Fort Caswell, Brunswick County, North Carolina. On 3 Dec 1911 he was discharged after his 3 year enlistment expired.

2nd enlistment: On 17 Jan 1912 Charles reenlisted in Co. E, 7th Infantry at Coumbus Barracks, Ohio (now Fort Hayes). On 16 Jan 1915 he was discharged after his 3 year enlistment expired.

3rd enlistment: On 17 Jan 1915 Charles reenlisted in the US Army. He was a Color Sgt. in HQ Co. & E Co., 6th Infantry, 5th Divison. This regiment served in Mexico and later in France. He was gassed during this enlistment (WWI). He was discharged 4 Jun 1920.

On 19 Dec 1917 Charles married Salena Jane Angel in Campbell County, Tennessee.

In 1920 Charles lived in Rock Creek, McCreary, Kentucky. He was a farmer.

On 21 Oct 1927 Charles applied for an Army pension as an invalid.

In 1930 Charles lived in McCreary, Kentucky. He was a farmer.

Charles died from acute lobar pneumonia, a contributing cause was "History of being gassed during World War".

Physical Description: blue eyes, dark brown hair, fair complexion, 5'11 3/4" - from enlistment records.
