Marianne Anderson of Akron, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005 at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.
Services were held Wednesday, June 15 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Honorary Casket Bearers were Gordy Johnson, Robbie Von Hagel, Jeffrey Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, Joshua Anderson and John Love. The Carlsen Funeral Home-Schroeder Chapel in Akron was in charges of arrangements.
Marianne was born Nov. 12, 1928 in Akron the daughter of James Robert and Birdice (Keech) Kerr. She attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron Community High School in 1947.
Marianne was united in marriage to Ivan W. Anderson June 11, 1947 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. Together they were the parents of three children; Patricia, Richard and Cynthia.
She was employed several years as a bookkeeper for Kerr Motor Company. She also worked for 16 years at the Akron Register-Tribune Newspaper, retiring in October 1992. Ivan passed away July 28, 1999.
Marianne was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women and Love Circle, serving on various offices. She also served on the church board in various positions. She was a member of the Embroidery Club and the Albert E. Hoschler American Legion Post 186 Auxiliary and the Siouxland Ostomy Association.
Survivors include three children, Richard Anderson of San Rafael, CA; Patricia Anderson and her husband Dale of Las Vegas, NV and Cynthia Love of Edmonds, WA; a step-daughter, Delinda Chafa and her husband Larry of Cedaredge, CO; a stepson, George Davidson and his wife Frances of Peoria, AZ; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Kerr, Jr. of Remsen, IA, Marvin Kerr of North Liberty, IA and Roger Kerr of Santa Anna, CA; a sister-in-law, Lillian Peskey of Denver, CO and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Phyllis Huddeston; a sister-inlaw, Peggie Kerr and a grandson, Joshua Anderson.
