Vera Lester, age 84, died Saturday, July 11 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14 at the United Methodist Church in New Hampton with Pastor Ray Howland officiating. Music will be furnished by Peter and Phyllis Willadsen singing "Nearer My God to Thee" and "The Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Carol Gorman as organist.

Casket bearers will be Rick Lester, Jim Flaherty, Gary Becker, Steve Lang, Mike Anderson, and Derwin Lester. Burial will be in the New Hampton Cemetery.

Vera was born April 27, 1908 at Goldfield, the daughter of Chris and Bessie (Titler) Anderson. She attended Goldfield Community Schools and on March 17, 1929 she was united in marriage to Raymond J. Lester. They had resided in Marathon, Goldfield, New Hampton, Sigourney, Waterloo, moving back to New Hampton.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, active in the church circles and many of the ladies' clubs.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth and Donald, New Hampton, eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond J. in 1980; two grandsons, Curtis and David; a brother, Harry Anderson; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Rasmussen.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday at the Larkin- Martin Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time at the church.
