Delbert Lon Anderson, 86, of Idaho Falls, a retired mechanic and diesel engine shop operator, died March 8, 1994, at Valley Care Center of natural causes.
He was born July 20, 1907, at Ogden, Utah, to Andrew and Josie Patterson Anderson. Orphaned at age 15, he graduated from high school and attended Weber College.
On June 27, 1932, he married Clara Swanson. At first, their marriage had to be kept secret because married women were not allowed to teach school. Their early married life was spent at Challis and Thompson Falls, Mont. After moving to Idaho Falls, he opened an oil refining business but soon had to close it at the declaration of World War II. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Nick Burggraf, W.C. Burns, and Clark Concrete; then operated a diesel engine shop with Lou Garland and John Jordan. His wife died in December 1988.
He was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge and the Masons Eagle Rock Lodge 19.
Survivors include his daughters, Josie Brown of Idaho Falls, and Kristine Christensen of Danville, Calif.; two brothers, Orville W. Anderson of Reno, Nev., and Billy Reed Hansen of Twin Valls; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
