Levi James Anders
February 26, 1993 – July 28, 2003

APELJE - Levi James Anders went home to Jesus with his Mamma, Jennifer Lynn Hossfeld, on July 28, 2003. Levi was born on Feb. 26, 1993, to Tom Anders and Jenny Hossfeld, in Columbus. Levi joined a 4-year-old brother, Jake, and the two of them began their childhood together in Fishtail.

Levi was well-known for his unbelievable intelligence. He could "talk the hind leg off of a mule," and if he did not know the answer to a problem or dilemma, he would definitely make you believe that he knew what he was talking about. Levi's mom would always say that he could argue with a rock…and win.

Levi loved animals, and was very proud of his bunnies, Silk and Satin, and his show-dog, Spud. His horse, Seven, was his most prized possession. Whether it was for work or play, Levi found a way to turn almost any horseback ride into a treasure hunt.

Levi enjoyed fishing with his dad, Tom, and had many stories to tell about his Oklahoma trips with his big brother, Jake. He really loved to go gopher hunting with his stepfather Erv. He could find a reason, no matter how busy everyone was, to go to Nanna and Grandpa's to stay for a few days. His favorite meal on the face of the earth was pancakes.

Levi is survived by his father, Tom Anders; his brother, Jake Anders; his stepfather, Erv Hossfeld; his half-brothers, Robert (Casey) and Steven Anders; his grandparents, Joe and Kathleen Niemi, Jim and Faye Kinsey, and Wink and Jeanette Hossfeld; his uncles, Rusty (Holly) Niemi, Terry (Marilyn) Kinsey, Don (Rhonda) Kinsey; his aunts, Becky (Dean) Johnson, Annie Niemi (fiancÈ Scott Mansanti), and Connie (Jon) Umbright; and numerous beloved great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends.

Levi, My little man, remember Papa is always right here. You are with the best mom in the world. The good Lord takes care of mothers and little men like you. We will meet you on the other side, and we will be together forever in the Lord's special place he has for all of us. Loving you forever, Dad

Levi, I love you. Erv

Levi, My little Cowboy, how I miss you today. I see you and your old horse Seven, coming down a coulee, picking up a treasure from a hidden place. I hear all your stories so clear - I saw you in last night's sunset as the high clouds drifted over, and Jenny was with you. You both were well mounted, and you were telling a story. I hear your bear stories, real or imagined, as I drift in thoughts of our long talks about nothing in particular. You are a treasure I'll have with me until we meet again in Heaven. God's angels are lucky today. Give Jenny a hug for me. Love, Grandpa

Levi, My little guy. You are free to ride high and wide with your mamma all day. I bet you have a brand new dog, too. You're probably telling stories with your Great-grandpa. Jesus needed a special angel with beautiful blue eyes and a brilliant mind and giving heart. I love you. Nanna

Levi, You were very, very wise for such a young boy. You were an intellect, and we appreciated that. I remember the four-wheeler rides - "faster, faster!" you'd yell. At branding time, you rode Old Seven, slowly, not to chase cows, but to study grass and rocks. You loved animals so much, you had such a pure spirit without a bad bone in your body. You had a very loving and creative outlook, we will always remember how beautiful a boy you were, Levi. Love, Rusty

Dearest Levi, You have taught us all how to enjoy life to the very fullest and to love something about everything. Your big blue eyes and voice I will see and hear forever. I know you're with your mamma walking in heaven and talking a mile a minute. I will see you again and we'll talk about good times. Love, Becky

My little Spiderman, I loved to see you stick out your little shoulder blades and show me those "chicken wings." From a baby with your little head of "Fuzz" and your sparkling blue eyes, you were truly one-in-a-million. I know that you met your mamma, and that you are God's best angel today. Be sure to hug her, and watch over us all. I love you, my little spud. Love, Annie

Levi was very special to me because he was the youngest of my three brothers. I enjoyed being around him, and will always remember his beautiful eyes and smile. I enjoyed his storytelling, but most of all was how much love he shared with all of us. He was a very good boy. Robert

Levi's first horse ride was on Cabello, and he kept riding faster, faster. He had the time of his life. He wanted me to give him that horse for every holiday. The time he came to stay with us in South Dakota we took him to Mount Rushmore and he spent all weekend collecting rocks, dirt and clay so he could look at them under his microscope. Levi loved his Lego set and his Harry Potter books that he got for Christmas. Dean

Levi, I remember the first time I saw you, you had more stories than any 10-year-old…real or not! Your facial expressions and beautiful blue eyes will always be in my memory. I know you are shining down on all of us, and you will be our angel up there. Love you, little guy. Scott

Services will be held for Levi and his mamma, Jenny Hossfeld, on Friday, Aug. 1, at the Rapelje School Gymnasium at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to United Bank, Columbus, for a memorial fund in Levi and Jennifer's name.
