Betty M. Amy, 84, passed away at a local hospital on Saturday, October 8, 2011.
She was a native of Houma, LA. and was a current resident of Lake Charles, LA. Mrs. Amy worked for the school board for over 20 years and before retiring she worked as the Cafeteria manager at T.S. Cooley in Lake Charles for 10 years. She was a loving mother who taught all of her children to love unconditionally just as the lord Jesus did. Mrs Amy, a woman who was generous to a fault, who put everyone ahead of herself, who was a hero to her children and grandchildren, and an inspiration to all. She left her family with a legacy that is worth more than money could buy. Her Children rise up and call her blessed. She was a true Proverbs: 31 mother.
She is survived by her daughter, Lovisa Duplantis and husband David Scott Sr. of Richmond, TX.; sons, William F. Amy and wife Lola of Welsh, LA., John Edward Amy and wife Marilyn of Buffalo, TX., Howard B. Amy and wife Gaiery of Lake Charles, LA., and Curtis P. Amy and wife Dorothy of Grand Lake, LA.; sisters, Jane Hudnall and husband Harvey of Klamath Falls OR.; brother, Donald Oncale of Moss Bluff, LA.; grandchildren, Patricia Durio, Lila Durio, John Amy Jr., Christine Willis, Carin Howell, Joshua Martin, Scott Duplantis, Carrie M. Duplantis, Eric Perez, Tricia Plaster, Dawnella Eve, Caitlyn Amy, Velvet Henning, and Violet Bergeron and 27 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley E. Amy Jr.; her parents, Adam Oncale and Ivy LaCompte and granddaughter, Mary Jean Thigpen.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff, LA. Rev. Monsignor Charles Dubois. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff with rosary prayed at 6 p.m. Words of comfort may be expressed with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
