Grandpa Al was a veteran of World War II, and served as a radio operator in the United States Army Air Corp. He was stationed in the jungle in Brazil where they guided military airplanes that were being ferried from the U. S. to Africa. He played a lot of pool between shifts.
He had a career as a civil engineer for the U. S. government for 35 years. Al was fond of traveling, and he and Phyllis visited foreign countries in Europe, Africa and the Far East. He also played a lot of golf, caught a lot of fish and had a great love for his family.
