A funeral for Paula Amsden of McMinnville will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville. The Rev. Richard Treadwell of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, McMinnville, will officiate. Interment will be private.
The funeral home will be open for visitation from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Amsden died Feb. 3, 2002, in Willamette Valley Medical Center, McMinnville, from causes related to cancer. She was 56.
She was born Oct. 26, 1945, in Sheffield, England, the daughter of Frank and Lily Billard Siefken. When she was 3 months old, she came to the United States on the Queen Elizabeth II. The family settled in Floyd, Iowa. She attended school in Floyd and graduated from Charles City High School in 1963.
She and Elmer Amsden were married Nov. 2, 1963, in Charles City, Iowa.
Mrs. Amsden lived in Waterloo, Iowa, from 1963 to 1970, then moved to McMinnville. She worked as a cook in the McMinnville School District for five years, then became a day care provider. She enjoyed her grandchildren, reading and walking on the beach.
Survivors include her husband; her father of McMinnville; two daughters, Shari Vasquez and Beth Spencer, both of McMinnville; two sons, Chris Amsden of Lafayette and Jeff Amsden of Carson City, Nev.; two brothers, Phil Siefken of McMinnville and Greg Siefken of Sheridan; a sister, Barbara Woods of McMinnville; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1999.
