Mr. James Willis Ammons, 90, of 1547 Indiantown Road, Clinton, NC; died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.

Mr. Ammons, born in Sampson County, was the son of the late Bill Simmons and Viola Ammons and the widower of Doretha Bledsole Ammons. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Herbert Melvin Ammons and Howard Ammons, and eight brothers and sisters. He was retired from Lundy Packing Co., with 31 years of service. He was a member of Holly Grove Holiness Church and a veteran of the US Army.

Mr. Ammons is survived by three sons, Nelson Ammons, Danny Ammons and Bobby Ammons, and one daughter, Doris Morales and a special grandson, Cody, twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and a special dog, Rex.

The family received friends from 6-8pm, Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Holly Grove Holiness Church and other times at the home of his son, Nelson Ammons of Clinton.

The funeral services were held at 3pm, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Holly Grove Holiness Church with the Rev. Dr. Randy Simmons and Bishop Wilbert Ammons officiating.

Burial with Military Honors was made in the Church Cemetery.

The family entrusted the care of Mr. Ammons to the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home of Clinton.
