Albert was a Corporal in Company I of the 37th Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted Dec. 1863 and was discharged 8/5/1865. His ankle was dislocated and then his leg amputate. In 1890 he lived at Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota. Later he lived in Salem, Marion County, Oregon. Albert entered The Oregon Soldiers' Home in Roseburg on 7/1/1908. He lived there for almost 5 years.
