Rex Ameigh age 90, of Stevens Point passed away Wednesday June 1, 2016 at St. Michaels Hospital A Christian Funeral Mass for Rex will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday June 4, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 9:00 - 10:15 AM on Saturday at the church before Mass. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Rex was born April 5, 1926 in Stevens Point, the son of Harley and Viva Ameigh.

He graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School in 1944. At the age of 18, Rex joined the United States Navy. He served his country as a radio operator.

While still in the Navy, Rex married his high school sweetheart Cariline Hintz on January 28, 1946 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. The couple celebrated 70 years together this past January.

After his honorable discharge Rex began a 24 year career at the Whiting - Plover Paper Mill. He then joined the Soo Line Railroad where he worked until his retirement at the age of 62. At the age of 65, he became a realtor with Parker Realtors (First Weber) until he retired again at the age of 81.

Rex was active in his community, spending over 10 years with the Boy Scouts as a leader. He served on the Stevens Point Planning Commission. Rex loved singing, and sang in in four different church choirs over the years. He was also active in the senior citizens "RSVP" at the Lincoln Center, going to schools with kites and cameras. He was active in the anti-drug program called B.A.B.E.S., and the PAWS Program, going to McKinley School, where the 2nd graders read to Rex's dog Casey. Rex belonged to the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #6, Wisconsin Realtors, St. Joseph Adult Choir & Holy Name Society, and the Focal Point Camera Club. He enjoyed photography, bowling, musky fishing, and golfing.

Rex is survived by his wife Caroline and their 2 children: Mary Jo Knuth, WI Rapids and Donald (Mary) Ameigh, Junction City. 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 4 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Wilma Jean Phillip.
