AMBROE – George E. Jr., 71, Ferndale, died Nov. 21, 2009, at home. Born Jan. 20, 1938, in Dunlo, son of George E. Sr. and Maude (Cunningham) Ambroe. Predeceased by parents and father-in-law, Ernest Yuhas. Beloved husband of former Sherrie Yuhas, whom he married June 4, 1966. Survived by sons, George, married to former Michele Cline, Westmont, and C.J., married to former Lisa Stem, Ferndale; and grandchildren, Jessica, Gillian, George and Andrew Ambroe; and stepgrandsons, Michael and Matthew Hepner. Brother of Stanley (Mary Ellen), Dunlo. Also survived by special cousin, James (Sandy) Ambroe, Windber; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Yuhas, Johnstown; and sister- in-law, Marlene Moncil, Johnstown. George was an avid fisherman who enjoyed camping and woodworking. He was proud of his sons and delighted in his grandchildren. He received a BS degree from Duquesne University, Class of 1959. He started his teaching career at former Conemaugh High School and retired from Ferndale School District with 31 years of service, having taught college English, history and psychology. He coached basketball and football, and for 21 years, he coached outstanding forensics teams. He was an Army veteran, serving as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Intelligence Corps. Henderson Funeral Home, funeral 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
