Dominga Lara Ambriz passed on to her eternal rest on September 12, 2011.
Mom was born in Alamo, Texas on November 24, 1935 to her parents Santos Barrera and Macario Lara. Mom truly loved being a Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
She took care of the inside of the house; Dad took care of the outside. Mom loved flowery dresses and all things pretty.
Her house is full of gifts from family and friends; portraits cover the walls and crayon drawings can be found in her bedroom and on the refrigerator door.
Mom showed her love for her family by cooking and making tortillas for the entire family; there was always "harina" in the refrigerator. When Mom took time for herself she sat down to embroider pillow cases and "secadores".
Mom loved music and she always got prettied up to go to dances. Redobas, chotis, and waltzes were Mom's favorites.
Our regular road trips to the Rio Grande Valley to visit family were always a special time for our parents.
Mom was afraid of flying so we drove 1800 miles each way.
On the road Mom and Dad would tell stories about their lives as migrant farm workers in some of the towns we drove through.
In Texas we visited family and religious shrines especially the Basilica of La Virgen De San Juan del Valle. Mom and Dad always brought back a souvenir from these trips for every family member. That was Mom; a simple Lady who loved her family, worked hard to make a nice home for us, and always followed her heart when trying to decide what would be best for her family.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, our Dad, Ricardo Orozco Ambriz on June 26, 2009.
Left behind to cherish Mom and Dad's memory are 3 daughters and 7 sons: Noé, Fernando, Irma, Santos, Vidal, Rene, Raymundo, Leticia, Rodolfo, and Armando; daughters-in-law and sons-in-law, as well as 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mom's surviving sisters are Dora Sanchez, Elisa Saenz, and Catarina Sanchez of Texas and her brother, Natividad Moroles of Lemoore.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Mission Church, Stratford CA, followed by interment at the Lemoore Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phipps-Dale Funeral Chapel in Lemoore.
