Anastacio Chavez Alvarado, 87, of Silver City died Saturday in Hacienda de Salud Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 4, 1903, in San Alvino, N.M., and had been a Grant County resident since 1918. He worked in the carpentry shop at Chino Mines until his retirement in 1962. He was a former member of Local 890 of the United Steelworkers Union. Calling hours were to be held from 1-5 p.m. today in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels, where funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10. Concluding services will follow in the Silver City Catholic Cemetery. Pastor Rafael Rueda will officiate. Survivors include three sons, Pedro and Alfredo Hernandez of Silver City, and Pablo Alvarado of Central; four daughters, Gloria Alvarado of Tucson, Ariz., and Sara Gonzales, Maria Maldonado and Juana Fajardo, all of Silver City; a brother, Carlos C. Jaramillo of Silver City; 37 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren Casket bearers will be Andy, Tony and Robert Gonzales, Manuel Maldonado, Sammy Fierro, Jr. and Mariano Estrada. Honorary bearers will be Severiano Vasquez, Frank Ogas and James Chapin. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels.
