Born at Cedar Bluff, he was a son of Mrs. Nancy Lou Hankins Altizer of Cedar Bluff and the late Samuel Crockett Altizer.
He was a retired tipple operator for Holston Corporation at Swords Creek, Va. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of the improved Order of Red Men Oniska Tribe No. 61 at Richlands.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his widow, Mrs. Ida Belle Richardson Altizer; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Horton of Cedar Bluff and Mrs. Sam Ball of Cedar Bluff; and one brother, Charlie Altizer of Swords Creek.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Walter L. Gates and Rev. Samuel N. Altizer officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Richlands Oniska Tribe will conduct graveside rites. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
