Sarah Ellen Stewart was born in Pike County, Illinois, May 3, 1851, and passed away at her home in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, August 21, 1928, age 77 years.

She was married to Sparel Altizer at Pittsfield, Illinois, August 13, 1868. To them were born eleven children: William of Indiahoma, Oklahoma, Mary E., deceased, James Robert of Dover, Oklahoma, Mrs. Lucy Rogers of Kingfisher, Mrs. Lydia Kretzinger of Galena, Oklahoma, Andrew Franklin of Indiahoma, Oklahoma, a babe that died in infancy, Roy Nelson of Kingfisher, Charles Edmond who died in the service of his country during the World War, Mrs. Pearl McCulley of Kansas City, Kansas and Luther Guy of Kingfisher. Mr. Altizer died May 29, 1921.

They moved from Illinois to Cass County, Missouri in 1868. In 1898, they came to Oklahoma, locating at Kingfisher. In early womanhood Mrs. Altizer professed faith in Christ and became a member of the Christian Church. Through the years she has lived a consistent Christian life. She was a member of the local Christian Church at the time of her death.

She leaves to mourn her loss, eight children, thirty-two grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one half-sister, Mrs. Fannie Shultz of Springfield, Illinois.

The funeral was held at the Christian Church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. In the absence of the pastor, Reverend Pool officiated.
