Donald D. Altic was born at home in Potsdam where he lived until entering the army in 1951. He was a private in Company C of the 81st Battn., 101st Airborne. Stationed at the Alconbury airbase in England, he met his future wife Ethel in 1952. Upon his return to the US in 1953 his fiancée Ethel Brown emigrated from the UK and they were married in Sept. 1953 and raised two children. In civilian life Don was a car salesman and by 1960 was a successful typewriter repairman and salesman for Price Typewriter in Troy, Ohio. In later years he lived with his mother Elizabeth (Betty) Altic in West Milton.
