Beverly G (Alt) Bowers, age 74, of Petersburg, died Monday, April 18, 2011. She was born Dec. 17 ,1936 ,in Petersburg, and was the daughter of the late Victor Clyde Alt and Joy Bell Alt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. Bowers on Oct.27, 2002; one grandson, Thomas P. Bowers on Feb. 14. 2007; three brothers, Victor Ralph Alt, Clifton "Kip" Alt and Standley Edwin Alt; and one sister, Mary Susan Bergdoll. Mrs Bowers graduated from Petersburg High School in 1954. She retired from the Grant Memorial Hospital after 25 years. She was a member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern star in Franklin Chapter 148 and transferred her membership to the Petersburg Chapter 146. She was a member of the Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, Mark E. Bowers and wife Debbie of Harrisonburg, VA.; one daughter, Terri L. Davis of Brandenburg , KY.; three grandchildren, John Bowers of Arlington, VA,.Robbie Davis and wife Tabiha of Princeton, KY., and Amy Davis of Brandenburg; one sister, Betty Jo Calhoun of Petersburg; and one brother, Foressst "Buck" Alt of Petersburg.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. The Eastern Star will conduct services at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted Thurday, April 21, at 11a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral home with the Rev. Gary Phillips and the Rev. Greg Rotruck officiating.
