Maxcene Humble Adams

Mildred Maxcene Almy was born in a tent in Maramec, Oklahoma, August 6, 1922 to Beulah Dean Lewis and Leroy Ross Almy.

She spent her early years in Westville, Oklahoma, living with her maternal grandparents, Ira and Effie Lewis. She returned to Ponca City where she completed her education.

She married Ervin Leroy Humble on September 14, 1940 and had 3 daughters, Cheryl, Pam and Patti. She was a faithful member of Osage Heights Baptist Church where she served as church secretary, treasurer, Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher, and choir member for many years.

She loved missions and went on mission trips to Kenya, Mexico, Argentina, Australia and visited Egypt, Israel and Jordan, all after the age of 60. She worked at Anderson's Shoe Store and then Grave's Drug Store until she retired. After that, she would often answer phones at Kay Baptist Association and was an Election Clerk for the Osage County Election Board.

She was always ready to go on a trip or host a family get-together. She was also an avid OU fan, cheering the team with her friends and family. Her great loves were her children and grandchildren, whom she prayed for every day.

Maxcene was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Humble, one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Humble Sober & Bud Sober and one brother, Earl Almy.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam & Everett Buntt and Patti & Terry Sledge; grandchildren, Lisa & Randy Worley, Melissa & Wes Young, Justin & Chawnte Sober, Brian Loyd Adams, Tara & Michael Vallandingham, and Todd & Jennifer Sledge.
