MRS. HELEN M. ALMQUIST Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Mae Almquist, wife of Monroe D. Almquist of 17190 S. Golden Rd., were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, at Woods Memorial chapel. The Rev. Herold Schulz performed the service. Interment was made in Golden cemetery. Born Sept. 16, 1896, in Monmouth, Ill, Mrs. Almquist was the daughter of Charles O. and Alice Brown Kellogg. During her youth she lived in that area and on March 19, 1921, she married Mr. Almquist in Davenport, Iowa. After living in Rock Island, Ill.. for several years, the Almquists moved to Golden in 1950. Mr. Almquist, a linotype operator, is employed at Bradford Robinson Co., Denver, and on occasion has been employed at The TRANSCRIPT for special work. Mrs. Almquist, who passed away June 5 at Lutheran hospital, attended St. James Lutheran church. Friends who wish may contribute to the building fund of that church in her memory. She formerly was a member of the auxiliary units of the American Legion and VFW and at one time was a member of Royal Neighbors. Pallbearers for the service were Harold Sunderhust, Roland Price, Leonard Larson, John Hatfield, Frank Arnold and Don Peterson. Surviving besides her husband are a son, Harry Buckley of Princeton, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Price of Golden and Mrs. Jacqueline Parker of Denver; 12 grandchildren including Pat and Joe Flaherty of Golden and Dan Flaherty of the U.S. Air Force who returned from Korea for the service; and seven great-grandchildren.
