PROMINENT DECATUR LADY PASSES TUESDAY -
Mrs. Annie M. Almon, widow of the late David C. Almon, passed away at her home, 422 Gordon Drive, at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Almon, the daughter of Thomas E. Miller and Elizabeth Green Miller, was born in Booneville, Mississippi, where she lived until her marriage on December 26, 1888, to David C. Almon. After her marrtiage they moved to Moulton, Alabama, where they lived until 1903 when she moved with her family to Decatur. Mrs. Almon had been in bad health for a number of years and had been an invalid for the past 10 months.
For more than a quarter of a century she was very active in the religious, cultural and benevolent life of the city, her particular interest being in the U.D.C.. D.A.R., Methodist Missionary Society and the Progressive Culture Club.
She is survived by the following children: George C. Almon, of Macon, Ga, Judge T.C. Almon, of Decatur, Mrs. T.H. Alexander, of Franklin, Tenn, Mrs. Leroy McEntire, of Decatur, Mrs. Fay Jones, of Decatur, Mrs. W.G. Ward, of Montgomery, Ala, Mrs. James T. Stewart, of Hopkinsville, Ky and 11 grandchildren; also two sisters, who reside in Fort Worth, Texas, and three brothers in Oklahoma and Washington states.
The remains was at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Leroy McEntire, until the hour of the funeral which was held at the Central Methodist Church at 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Dr. R. Lambuth Archibald was in charge of services, assisted by Dr. R.M. Howell of the First Methodist Church.
Brown was in charge.
