Miss Clara C Allen
Northampton, April 21 Ė Miss Clara C Allen, 90, descendent of Revolutionary War hero, Thomas Allen and daughter of a late Supreme Court justice, died today at a nursing home.
She was born on Aug. 13, 1860, in Northampton, daughter of the late Judge William G and Elizabeth (Penney [sic]) Allen, and had lived in this city all her life. She had been active in civic and church organizations and had served as volunteer secretary of St Johnís Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Womanís Auxiliary of the church, the Friendly Society and the Altar Guild. She was a member of Betty Allen Chapter, D.A.R., named for an ancestor, and belonged to the League of Woman Voters. During World Wars I and II she was active in a number of relief societies.
Funeral services will be in St Johnís Episcopal Church Thursday at 2 with Rev. Robert N. Rodenmayer, rector, officiating. Burial will be in Bridge St. Cemetery. Friends may call at the Charles R Dutton funeral home, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
