William Keith Allen, 81, his earthly journey completed, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Colonial Oaks Health Care Center, Marion, Indiana. He was born on August 21, 1929, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Fred and Lula Mae Allen. He attended Elementary schools in Hamilton, and finished his high school education at Frankfort Pilgrim Academy, Frankfort, Indiana in 1947.

Following his marriage to Marjorline Hughes on July 28, 1948, at the young age of 18, he began his college education at Frankfort Pilgrim College, transferring to Indiana Wesleyan University in 1949, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1952. His teaching aspirations were delayed for two years, during the Korean conflict, while he served in the U.S. Army in El Paso, Texas, as an Instructor in the Guided Missiles Center.

Upon returning to his home in Jonesboro, he assumed a teaching appointment at J.C. Knight which set the stage for continuing education. He earned his Master's degree from Ball State University in 1957 and Public School Superintendent's Certification in 1958. This marked the beginning of Administrative positions as Principal in the Mississinewa School System, which included 23 years at J.C. Knight, Jonesboro, 3 years at R.J. Baskett Middle School, Gas City, and 12 years at Westview Elementary School, Jonesboro. Mr. Allen was highly revered and respected as an administrator by his faculty, parents and students.

Following the death of his wife on March 12, 1991, and one more year as Principal at Westview School, he retired in 1992.

Surviving are his two children, Brenda (Russell) Mack, North Wilksboro, N.C.; and Keith (Tammy) Allen, Summitville, Ind.; grandchildren, Nicholas Allen, Royal Oak, Mich., and Julia (Samuel) Dana, Cullowhee, N.C.

Also surviving are sisters, Ola Vadia Cook (Charles, deceased), San Diego, Calif.; Laura (Kenneth) Andrews, Middletown, Ohio; and Kathleen Wright, Hamilton, Ohio; brothers, Fred Jr. (Ann), Hamilton, Ohio, and Johnathan (Carol), Middletown, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Samuel, and James Adrian Allen.

He married Evelyn M. Rhoades on August 28, 1993, with whom he shared retirement years, traveling to visit family, and touring with groups to several Canadian provinces. Parts of several winters were enjoyed in Florida. She survives.

He was a member of Westview Wesleyan Church for 62 years, and gave many hours toward helping to build the church at its new location on 6th Street in Jonesboro, Indiana in 1969. He also served on the Board of Administration for a number of years and faithfully assumed teaching ministries in his church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 in Westview Wesleyan Church, 1300 W. 6th St., Jonesboro, with the Revs. Mark Diesler and Chuck McCallum officiating. Burial is in Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.
