Saturday, March 24, 2012 Pueblo chieftain

Rusana "Rusty" Lee Blackman Allen was born April 27, 1937, in Pueblo, Colo., to Russell and Madge Blackman. Beloved and devoted Air Force wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter and aunt, left this world on Friday, March 23, 2012, surrounded by her loving family to join those loved ones preceding her in death and to join our Lord in her well deserved place in heaven. Rusty is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Lawrence "Larry" Allen; her oldest son, Scot (Sherry); her middle son, Blane (Kathy); daughter, Malissa (Bill); and twin brother, Russell Blackman; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Rusty loved people and was a friend to everyone. She was a very positive person who led by example, bringing out the best in each person whose life she touched. If asked, Rusty would tell you her greatest accomplishment in life was being best friends with her husband, kids, grandchildren and brother. Larry would tell you that Rusty was a devoted Air Force wife, the hardest job in the Air Force. She moved 24 times setting up a loving home for her family with each assignment, and establishing her final home in Canon City, Colo., in 1992. Rusty is a 1955 graduate of Centennial High School in Pueblo and a 1959 graduate of the University of Northern Colorado. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. Her family is comforted in this time of loss by John 14:1-3 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, also at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Canon City, Colo. A reception will follow at 3 p.m. at the Shadow Hills Golf Club at 1232 CR 143. Interment at Mountain Vale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Jewish Hospital, 1400 Jackson St., Denver, CO 80206.
