DOROTHY MAE GAINEY ALLEN FLORENCE, SC-DOROTHY MAE GAINEY ALLEN, 83, of Florence, Passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 in a Florence healthcare facility after an illness. Mrs. Allen was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late John Calvin and Ida Mae Hatchell Gainey. She had retired from Marlowe Manufacturing, was a homemaker, and a longtime member of Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Reid Herman Allen and her son Herman Reid Allen. She is survived by her son, David Ralston Allen of Effingham; daughters, Rose Allen Streett and her husband who was a special son-in-law, Ray Streett of Florence and Amy Lynn (Chris) Galloway of Effing-ham; her brothers, George (Margaret) Gainey of Florence and Wallace (Hilda) Gainey of Columbia; her sister Barbara (Jimmy) Moore of Effingham; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in the Chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church, 7005 Friendfield Road, Effingham, SC 29541.
