Arthur was a member of the American Legion, Remsen, Boonville Elks Club and Remsen Vol. Fire Co. He enjoyed classic car and truck shows, and was currently having his 1954 Ford Pickup (Edna) restored by his friend Dean. He also enjoyed local history, collecting post cards and had a great love for animals.

Surviving are his loving wife, Christine, step son and his wife, Andrew and Jodie Gardner, Canastota; step grandchildren, Kylee, Noah and Drew Arthur; one brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and April Allen, Rome, and their daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Patrick Marino; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Donna and Lyle DeCarr, Taberg, and their sons, Corey and Paul, Sandra and Francis Grimshaw, Middleville, and their daughters, Ann Marie, Kelly and Tracy, Jody Jones, Remsen, and her sons, DJ (Donald) and Dustin, Carol Allen and fiance, Timothy Burdick, Rome, and her son, Jameson Allen. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Phyllis Patenaude, and her friend, Dean Mallory, Rome; sister-in-law, Suzanne and Andrew Potter, Floyd; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Patenaude, Rome; great nieces and nephews, Daniel, Derrick, Samantha and Brooke; and many special friends.
Grave side services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen, with Military Honors. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Amyloidosis Support Network, 1490 Herndon Lane, Marietta, GA 30062, or to a Humane Society of choice.
