MACON - W.H. Allen, 82, died Feb. 5, 2007, at his residence. Services are today at 1 p.m. at Noxubee Full Gospel Christian Center in Macon with the Rev. Jimmy Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Garden Cemetery near Columbus. Cockrell Funeral Home Inc. of Macon is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Allen was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Quincy to the late Walter Lee and Anna Estelle Carter Allen. He attended school in West Point. He worked in the logging industry for 15 years while living in the Columbus and West Point area before starting his own logging business, which he operated for more than 20 years. He also was a part-time evangelist. He moved to Macon in 1968. He worked for several businesses and cities over the years, including the city of Shuqualak, Mississippi State University and Barge Forest Products in Macon. He attended Noxubee Full Gospel Christian Center in Macon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nolan Allen. He is survived by his wife, Mamie Allen of Macon; daughter, Debbie Allen Tate of Caledonia; sons, Edward Allen of Hattiesburg and Jimmy and Hoyt Allen, both of Columbus; brother, the Rev. Archie Allen of Vidor, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
