Valentine Allen was born 9 Nov 1840 (year per headstone inscription, though other sources give date of birth as 1843) in Newburg, Phelps County, Missouri. He was the son of Samuel T. Allen and Frances Hudgens (Wilson)(Allen)(Malone). Valentine "Tine" Allen's half-brother was "Bushwacker" Bill Wilson, son of Frances Hudgens and her first husband Valentine "Sol" Wilson. Valentine Allen's beloved wife with whom he was laid to rest was Catherine Ellen Fore born 1843 in Kentucky; daughter of Benjamin "Ben" Fore and Sabra "Sabie" Stogsdill. Tine Allen and Catherine Ellen Fore Allen were married in 1861 in Phelps County, Missouri; and had many children, including Susannah "Susan" Allen who married John Pettis "Pinkney" Harrison. Catherine died in 1900, leaving Valentine a widower at age 57. Valentine remarried to second wife, Cordelia Paralee Miller Hawkins in 1902 (widow of Robert Hawkins).
Valentine Allen's Last Will & Testament was recorded in Probate court records in Phelps County , Missouri with a probate date of 6th Day of Sept, 1919. There is a transcription error in some databases giving this date erroneously as 9 May, 1919. I have uploaded an actual digital image of the original document which clearly shows a probate date of 6th Day of Sept, 1919. The Will was written and signed by Valentine Allen on 17 May, 1919. He died of prostate cancer a few months after signing his Will.
