Teresa Lynn (Thornsbury) Speheger, 41, of Liberty Center, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at Parkview Hospital North in Fort Wayne.
Teresa was born in Huntington, Indiana on August 12, 1971 to Bennie and Vicki (Yoder) Thornsbury. Her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives and resides in Andrews, Indiana.
Teresa graduated from Huntington North High School in 1990. She was employed at several businesses over the years including Heritage Pointe which was the former Warren United Methodist Memorial Home, Christian Care, Peyton's Northern, and Customized Distribution Service of Bluffton. She was a full time student at Med Tech College; working to earn a degree in Medical Billing and Coding.
Teresa was a breast cancer survivor for many years. She really enjoyed being a mom, taking walks, and participating in zumba. She enjoyed family, friends, and helping others. Teresa attended Liberty Center Baptist Church and had a great spirit and truly appreciated life. She believed that everyone should live like they were dying and that folks should not wait around for something bad to happen in order to prompt them to start living. Teresa was fortunate to get to attend some Nascar races and some professional football games and she enjoyed them to the fullest. Teresa's last wish was to travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Her wish came true the week of July 8, 2013 when she traveled with her family on a final "family vacation" to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her former husband and the father of her three sons, David R. Speheger of Bluffton, by three sons, David Speheger of Liberty Center, Austin Speheger of Liberty Center, Blake Speheger of Liberty Center, two sisters, Tiffany (Kevin) Kampa of Minnesota, Amy Burnau of Angola, three brothers, Damian (Carrie) Thornsbury of Wabash, Scott Thornsbury of Andrews, Tim (Regina) Thornsbury of Huntington.. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a step-mother, Diana Thornsbury and by a sister, Lee Bartrom Ganer.
Calling hours are 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Liberty Center Baptist Church. A memorial service celebrating Teresa's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Aaron Westfall officiating. Teresa has requested that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Liberty Center Baptist Church or to the children's education fund with checks payable to Tim Thornsbury.
