Jimmie Elizabeth Allen, 78, of Greenville died Feb. 13, 2009, at Community Care Center in Garland.
Funeral services will be at 11. a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Royce Litchfield officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen was born Nov. 30, 1930, in Greenville to Arnold C. and Jim Bell Sullivan King. On Oct. 21, 1947 she married Jack Allen in Greenville.
She was a loving, caring, super mom, always there for her family, friends and church. She ran a cake decorating business out of her home while raising her family, and worked for Levy's Jewelry Store for 13 years. Then, in retirement, she and husband Jack ran The Corner Grocery Store for seven years.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church and a member of Beta Sigma Phi career sorority for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack Allen. She is survived by her four children, Chuck Allen and Sherrye Hubbs of Greenville, Kathye Allen of Houston and Chris Allen and wife Nancy of Rowlett; four grandchildren whom she worshiped, Tye and Kodye Hubbs and Mallory and Sam Allen; brother Don King and wife Hope and their children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Ball, Micheal Ball, Kodye Hubbs and Tye Hubbs.
The family requests memorials be made to Highland Terrace Baptist Church, 3939 Joe Ramsey Blvd., Greenville, 75402.
