Irless Allen Brooks, 96, of Paducah died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Paducah. Zapata Funeral Home, Paducah.Church Services for Irless Allen Brooks, 96, of Paducah will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday December 2, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Paducah with Brother David Williams officiating assisted by Hospice Chaplain Randy Wilson and Pastor Brett Hoffman. A Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday December 1, 2013 at Zapata Funeral Home in Paducah. Mr. Brooks passed from this life on November 29, 2013 in Paducah.

Irless was born on August 29, 1917 in Cottle County to Ira Allen Brooks and Maggie O. Bearden Brooks. He grew up at Hackberry where he attended school before attending Paducah High School and graduating in 1936. He attended both Tarleton and Texas Tech. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was stationed in Marseilles, France and Belgium at the end of the war. After the war he returned to farm and ranch with his father and lived on their place at Flomot, Texas while Ira took care of their operations at Paducah.

Irless married Lila Gene Thomas on May 29, 1954. They lived at Flomot until moving back to Paducah around 1960. From this union they had three children Irless Gene, Lila Lee, and Grier Allen. He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Paducah and had also served on the Paducah City Council.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his children: Irless Gene Brooks of Midland and Lila Lee Taylor of Paducah.

One sister: Leota Maxfield of Paducah.

And four grandchildren: Brittni Lee Brooks of La Jolla, CA; Cody Allen Brooks of Dallas, Alicia Abreu of McCarroll and Dakota Brooks McCarroll of Lubbock.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lila Gene Brooks, his son Grier Allen Brooks, brother Terry Brooks, and his parents.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Paducah Cemetery Association, First Baptist Church or to the City County Heritage Museum in Paducah.
