while the photograph posted by Christine Thacker does show some Letter "A" lots in the city plan, the image does not depict the part of the cemetery where this grave is located.

Reported age at time of death was 49 years, so evidently born about 1848. Frank ALLEN married 30 MAR 1876 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to Mary V. PICKREN.

Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: Frank ALLEN died aged 49 years of T.B. [= tuberculosis]; buried 29 JUN 1897 in Section A, Lot 214 - Sexton Jesse Alec BEARD.

Daniel Olds' index of deaths, AUG 1890 to DEC 1918, from the Muscogee County Death Register, on file with the Muscogee County Health Department's Office of Vital Records, shows: Frank ALLEN, White male, died 27 JUN 1897, aged 50 years [sic - age as reported in this database tends to be more of a category (like Under 50), rather than exact. Also, inclusion in this database does not necessarily indicate death in Columbus or anywhere in Muscogee County. It is a list of death dates for persons buried in Columbus municipal cemeteries.]

1880 federal census of Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, Dwelling #122 / Household #143, residing on Early Street (all ALLEN, all birth places Georgia): Frank (30), married, moulder; wife Vandelia (28), married, keeping house; daughter Jettie (2); and son Willie (5 months, born in Jany.).

This grave is evidently not identifiably marked. Lot 214 in the Letter A addition was owned by Frank ALLEN (date of sale and price of purchase not reported). Others reported to be here include: a child of Frank ALLEN, buried 02 JUN 1877 (premature); Dessie PICKREN, buried 10 AUG 1878 (aged 1 1/2 years); William Henry ALLEN (JAN 1880--05 MAY 1885); C. F. ALLEN, buried 19 MAY 1885 (aged 20 months); Mrs. Nancy ALLEN, buried 23 SEP 1899 (aged 84 years); Ethel Mae ALLEN, buried 12 SEP 1902 (aged 16 years); Edmund A. PICKREN (DEC 1855--14 AUG 1913); and Mary Vandelia (PICKREN) ALLEN, buried 03 FEB 1932 (aged 80 years). City A-214 corresponds with Lot 113 in Section G of Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book (edited by Lea Dowd et al.), Volume 2. Autry reports this as an open lot with one broken grave marker that has no identifying markings [possibly displaced from another lot?].

The sexton record also reports two GAMMON graves in city A-214, but that's an error. They're in city A-215, which was owned by G. W. GAMMON and is Autry G-114.
