Agnes May Allen, 88, was born to Oscar W. and Grace Elizabeth Carter on April 20, 1920, in Clever, Missouri. She passed from this life on November 20, 2008, in Primrose Place, Springfield, Missouri. She was a graduate of Crane High School and was united in marriage to William Thomas Allen on September 9, 1940. The Lord granted them 68 years of marriage. To this union two children were born. She has been a devoted homemaker, a school secretary for Kickapoo R-7 School, and an employee of J.C. Penney. She enjoyed doll collecting for many years. She prepared to meet the Lord by hearing the Word of God (Rom. 10:13-19), believing (Heb. 11:16), repenting (Luke 24:47), confessing (Acts 8:37), and was buried in baptism for remission of sins (Acts 2:38), by Oscar Ellison in 1952. Agnes and Thomas were members of Southside Church of Christ and worshiped there until their health declined. She is survived by her husband, Thomas of the home; a daughter and her husband, Garolyn Sue and Ken Roach, Springfield; a son and his wife, Thomas E. and Julie Allen, Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Mark Roach, Houston, Texas, Kent Roach, Houston, Texas, Mary Ella Allen, Galveston, Texas, Carter D. Allen, U.S. Army, Ft. Benning, Georgia, and William Thomas Allen II, Iowa City, Iowa; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary Roach, Austin, Texas, Sophia Roach, Seattle, Washington, Quinton Roach, Austin, Texas, and Ethan Roach, Kyle, Texas. She always showed a great amount of devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Maxine Lasiter; and a brother, Eugene Carter. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2008, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2008, in the funeral home, with Bill John and Ken Roach officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery with private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to Sequiota Elementary School, 3414 S. Mentor, Springfield, Missouri 65804, to assist students. Both Garolyn Sue and Thomas E. attended Sequiota and William Thomas served on the Sequiota School Board in the 1950s.
