Jeanette Allen - ELIZABETHTON

Mrs. Jeanette Miller Allen, 77, a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, formerly of 300 Elm Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

She was the daughter of the late Stewart and Minnie Dempsey Miller.

Jeanette was the head majorette for the E.H.S. Band while attending Elizabethton High School. She had worked at J.C. Penney and Courthouse Limited in sales. She loved to entertain and enjoyed fashion and decorating. Jeanette and her husband enjoyed dancing and playing bridge. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen; and a son, Rick Allen.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Allen Estep, Monroe, NC; a son, Cris Allen and his companion, Jim Payne, Jonesborough; two grandchildren, Sarah Estep French and husband, Justin, and Michael Estep, all of Monroe, NC; two great-grandchildren, Auri Blu French and Lena Jane Estep, both of Monroe, NC; and a brother, Paul Miller, Sarasota, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Jeanette Miller Allen will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 9, 2011, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Father Harry Schaffer officiating.

Graveside service and interment will follow the service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mike Estep, Ronnie Carpenter, Rick Broome, Michael Estep, Dillard Sholes, Donnie Ray McKinney and Justin French. Honorary pallbearer will be Harry "Fuzz" Mottern.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon until 2:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the service.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Caris Healthcare Hospice, 1409 West Market Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
