Lovell Alford Bishop, 91, of Owensboro died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 19, 1914, in Edmondson County to the late Willie and Betty Doyle Alford. She was retired from many years of child care and as a homemaker. Lovell was a member of Southside Church of Christ. She enjoyed her best friends, her neighbors and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lee Bishop, on Feb. 20, 1985; a stepson, C.L. Bishop Jr.; her brothers, Raz Alford and Wayne Alford; and by sisters, Donna Hayes, Ruby Boswell and Ruth Mattingly. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Green and friend Jim Taylor, Cissy Bishop, and Fran Coates and her husband, Bill, all of Owensboro; a sister, Josephine Simmons of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, Linda Ogle and her husband, John, Bill Coates, Stacy Thomson, Kim Coates and Jennifer Spence, all of Owensboro; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee Coates, Parker and Garrett Ogle and James and Hunter Thomas; three stepgrandchildren, Shari Beaven and her husband, Bob, Terry Bishop and Cary Bishop; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro.
