O. Evelyn Winters Chappell, age 95, of Asheboro, formerly of Port Richey, FL, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Chappell was a native of Newark, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Yolanda Alexy, her husbands, W. Raymond Winters and James E. Chappell, and siblings, Julius Alexy, Alexander Alexy, and Ethel Amodeo.
She is survived by her son, Ken Winters and wife Jan of Asheboro; her daughter, Jill Winters of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Cheryl Surratt and husband Randy of Asheboro; Dawn Overman and husband Chris of Clayton; great grandchildren, Kayla, Cameron, and Evie Surratt, Tori and Nate Overman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 11:00 am-noon at Cross Road Baptist Church, 1556 Old Cox Rd., Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Friday at noon at Cross Road Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny R. Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Grace Memorial Gardens in Hudson, Florida at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cross Road Retirement Community, 1302 Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.
