Obituary for Albert Lee Alexander from Found and Sons Funeral Chapel:
Albert Lee Alexander Sr., 89, of Elkwood, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Culpeper Hospital. Albert was born on January 13, 1924, in Arlington, to the late Albert Lewis Alexander and Susie C. Garrett.
Albert served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Upon completion of basic training at Fort Bragg, he was assigned to work in communications in the Washington, D.C. area and, subsequently, in Europe. He was discharged on June 30, 1946, and was a member of the VFW.
For more than 40 years, Albert worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company as a Lineman/Carrier, and he moved from Alexandria to Elkwood after his retirement. He was President of the Annandale Little League for 3 years, served as President of the Virginia Archery and Rifle Club for 2 years, and, for several years, was President of the Lignum Ruritan Club, of which he was a Lifetime Member. Albert was a member of Braddock Baptist Church in Alexandria and Oakland Baptist Church in Richardsville. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, and classic antique cars.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ina Carson Breeden; three children, Linda L. Lewis of Elkwood, Albert Lee Alexander Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Wayne Lewis Alexander, and his wife, Patricia, of Fort Worth, Texas; his five grandsons, Gregg Turner, Jason Alexander, Michael Lewis, Geoffrey Alexander, and Johnathan Alexander; and four great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jack, Davis, and Alyssa.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his brothers Lewis and George Alexander.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Oakland Baptist Church, 28348 Eley's Ford Road, Richardsville, Virginia.
Interment will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 South King's Highway, Alexandria, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jason Alexander, Michael Lewis, Geoffrey Alexander, and Johnathan Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
