Andrew B. Alexander,former city engineer and member of the firm of File & Alexander,contractors died in his home after a period of ill health extending over two years and having been confined to his home for several weeks. His death was due to perenicious anemia. During the last week of his illness his friends knew that he was ill beyond possibility of recovery. Visitors were not permitted to see him and he was thus denied what is a comfort to many men in the evening of their life,assurance by the presence of his friends that he has not been forgotten because he has left their daily walks of life.

He had been a resident of Decatur for the last 18 years and served a term as city engineer prior to the adoption of the commission for of administration. At other times he was first engaged in his profession as civil engineer and later as a contractor,his specially being municipal work,paving street and kindred work in all of his relations both as a city official and as a contractor he was in high esteem by all whom knew him.

He was born in Arbuckle,W. VA. Jan. 3,1863. He was married to Maude Temple in Taylorville in 1901 and two years later came to Decatur. He leaves son, Temple and Paul,brother,G. P Alexander,Alamoss,Col. and sister,Miss Elizabeth Alexander Publo,Col.
