Mr. Alexander 89, was a resident of Biloxi, MS. He was born to the union of Johnny and Lucille Alexander on April 12, 1920 in Poplaville, MS. The family moved to Bay St. Louis, MS where he met and married Lillian Robinson.
He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, and was also a Civil Service Employee at Keesler Air Force Base for 40 years where he retired. Mr. Alexander was the owner and operator of the Neighborhood's Snowball Stand, the Soul Cab, and was a bus driver for the Gulf Coast Community Action Agency (Headstart) in the late 80's and 90's.
In Mr. Alexander early years he was a member of Main Street Missionary Baptist Church in Biloxi where he song in the Male Chorus, and was a member of the Trumpetaires Gospel Singers of Biloxi. In his latter years he attended Trumpet In Zion Fellowship in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Alexander; father, Johnny Alexander; mother, Lucille Wilson; stepfather, James Wilson; three brothers, T.J. Alexander, Wilbert Alexander, Sr., Sylvester Alexander;a sister, Hilda Alexander, and a daughter, Rita Floyd.
To celebrate his Homegoing and cherish his wonderful memory are eight daughters, Voncile (Louis) Belcher of Vine Grove, KY, Willie Dean James of Milwaukee, WI, Deborah (Chris) Turner and Patricia Dexter both of Gulfport, Geralyn Alexander Wilson, Blondieva Gines, Ollivette Samuels, Zoey (Vance) Woods all of Biloxi, two sons, Johnny Alexander, Jr. of Biloxi, and Ernest (Joyce) Mosley of Ocean Springs; a brother, MacAuthur Paul Alexander of Biloxi, thirty-five grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, long time neighbors, Lee Owens, and Mamie Mithchell and Family.
