He retired after 38 years of service from the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., and in 1988 was awarded the North Carolina Volunteer of the Year Award by then Governor James G. Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Davis Aldridge; daughters, Shirley Gaddy and Sharon Ellis; sons, Jim & Jeff Aldridge; grandchildren, Nikkie Ellis, Lauren Mizell, and Jimmy, Chad, Tara, & Justin Aldridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse R. Aldridge, Sr. & Martha Ziglar Aldridge; brother, Jesse R. Aldridge, Jr., ad a sister, Virginia Paschal.
Interment followed funeral services conducted Friday, November 16, 2007.
