Article in The New York Times Newspaper dated 14 June 1882: Private First Class Alfred K. Alderson, Signal Corps, in charge of Life Saving Station Number 6 in North Carolina was relieved and re-assigned to the Cape Henry, Virginia Station.
2 July 1885 Private First Class Alfred K. Alderson was discharged from the U.S. Army at Fort Warren, Massachusetts account expiration of service, character notation, very good.
Alfred tried to re-enlist but was refused, no date, as he had epilepsy. Compiler, B.C. Alderson, has Alfred's Declaration For Original Pension Application 581695 dated 2 August 1886 filed in Quarter Sessions Court, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Physical description as of 15 September 1886: 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weight 150 pounds.
