Galesburg- Bronald E. Alden (Bud) of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Avon, Illinois, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009 at OSF Hospital, Peoria, Illinois.

Bud was born on July 31, 1930 in Avon, Illinois at his childhood home, the eldest son of Glen Alden and Bernice Alden. He married June Rose on November 21, 1959.

He is survived by his spouse, June, three daughters, Amy Eathington (Kenny), Dunlap, Illinois; Priscilla Culp, Manito, Illinois; Erin (Mark) Davis, Dunlap, Illinois and six grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Katelyn, Nicholas, Brogan and Peyton. Bud was also survived by his only sibling, John Alden (Liz), Gilbert, Arizona.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mary Francis.

He graduated from Avon High School and then attended Iowa State University and Monmouth College. While at Monmouth College, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Bud was called into service in the United States Army in the Korean War. He served with the 5th RCT Unit and fought in the Battle of the Punch Bowl.

After completion of his service, he returned to Avon, Illinois to farm his family farm until his retirement from farming in 1994. As a farmer, Bud was proud of his Allis Chalmers farm equipment. After his retirement, Bud and June moved to Galesburg in 1997.

He was a member of The United Methodist Church in Avon, Illinois.

Bud was a lifelong Cub fan, enjoyed watching old movies and completing cross word puzzles. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren's activities.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 3, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Corman's Memorial Home, Avon, Illinois. The funeral service will be at United Methodist Church, Avon, Illinois on Monday, May 4, 2009, at 10 a.m.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church, Avon, Illinois, Avcom Park or Korean War Veterans Memorial.

Corman's Memorial Home, Avon, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements.
