Joy Ann Cuoco Rodick Huntley Alcus passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015. Age 79 years. Beloved wife of Samuel T. Alcus, III (Ted). Daughter of the late Stella Rossi Cuoco and Russell Leonard Cuoco. Loving mother of Judee R. Spansel (Henry), Gina R. Dornan, Kevin C. Rodick (Erin) of La Canada, California and Nanette E. Rodick. Grandmother of Russell Spansel (Casey), Ashley S. Camardelle (Danny), Kristen D. Schedler (Christian), Katherine Dornan, Kathleen, Shannon and Maureen Rodick. She is also survived by three stepsons Gregory P Alcus, H. Darren Alcus (Mary Pat), and Paul S. Alcus (Maria), step grandchildren, Mackensie, Zachory, Noah, Claire, Colin, and Sienna, a sister, Carole C. Bauer (Richard) and three nieces, Andree Bauer, Allison B. Hollard (Ryan), Erin B. Salcedo (Luis) and a nephew, Eric Bauer (Dawn). A native and lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. A graduate of St. Mary's Dominican College. An educator for almost 30 years. She taught at Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, Our Lady of the Rosary, and Brother Martin High School. Mardi Gras was one of her true passions in life and she was involved in many organizations including Elenians, Virgilians, Iris, Niobians, and Excalibur and served as the Administrative Assistant to the Captain of Hermes for many years. She loved the theater, music and all things related to travel. She will be missed by family and many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry Research Fund, Roswell Park Cancer Institute Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263, Brother Martin High School, 4401 Elysian Fields Ave., NOLA 70122 or St. Mary's Dominican High School, 7701 Walmsley Ave., NOLA, 70125.
