On March 6, 1996, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call from our midst, Mattie Pearl Carson-Alcorn of Charleston Health Care, Danville, Kentucky, where she resided for the past two years.
Mattie was born March 1, 1914 to the late Alfred Bonaparte and Lizzie Lacky-Carson in Lincoln County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon W. Alcorn and sisters, Viola Carson, Sue Ada Carson and Della Mae Carson-Parker and brother Sammie Carson.
Mattie attended school in Lincoln County. She had been a resident of Boyle County since the early 1940's. After moving to Boyle County she united with First Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of this church. She was a member of the SundaySchool, B.T.U., Missionary Society, and Women's Improvement Club.
She lost her lower limbs in 1980. Although she lost her limbs, never lost her smile and faith in God. She was indeed an inspiration to her family as well as her community.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Helen Alcorn of Danville, KY; five sons, Raymond W. Alcorn, (Ann) of Warrensville Heights, OH, Carl J. Alcorn of Grove City, OH, H. Kenneth Alcorn (Brenda) of Huber Heights, OH, Charles E. Alcorn (Naomi) of Danville, KY and Melvin C. Alcorn (Margaret) of Danville, KY; one sister, Flora E. Carson-White of Stanford, KY, one brother-in-law, Howard C. Alcorn of Shaker Heights, OH; 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren several nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
