Ethel G. Albin, born August 8, 1906, passed away at Good Samaritan Village in Greenacres, WA on March 19, 2003.

Ethel was born on Badger Mountain to Anna and Samuel Tillett. Shortly after her birth, the family moved back to Wabash, Indiana to be with family as Anna, her mother, was ill and passed away when Ethel was only 11 months old. For four years her loving grandparents, aunts, and uncles raised her.

In 1910, Samuel Tillett married Kitty Bean who was the most wonderful stepmother to Ethel. Due to her poor health, Ethel left school in the 8th grade and moved to Toronto, Canada to stay with an aunt and uncle. During part of her time in Toronto, Ethel worked in a bakery.

When Ethel was 18, an uncle brought her back to Washington State to see her birthplace. She met Crowel Albin during this trip where she was staying up the Entiat River with another aunt and uncle. Ethel returned to Indiana and Crowel courted her by mail for three years. In November 1930 Crowel drove back to Indiana, where they were married on November 14, 1930. They returned to live in Washington making their first home in the Dryden area.

They moved to Steins Hill where Crowel worked in the apple orchards while Ethel worked at the Red Apple Fruit Stand. Their first child, Lawerance Albin was born October 6, 1931 in Wenatchee. Later they moved to a small home up the Entiat River next to Crowel's parents.

By 1943, they had moved to Ellisford, WA where their three daughters, Ruthanna, Naomi, and Esther were born. In December 1941 Crowel and Ethel moved the family to Cashmere. Ethel was active in the schools, Boy Scouts, and Camp Fire Girls while raising her family. She also worked for the Cashmere Telephone Company.

Ethel was truly a very loving and caring mother. She was the strength and core of the family. In the last few months of her life she talked about her coming 97th birthday party that some of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would help her celebrate. She enjoyed her family and lived for them. Crowel and Ethel moved to Spokane in 1994 to be near their daughters, Ruthanna and Naomi.

Her son Lawerance, her husband Crowel(L.C.), and one grandchild preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Ruthanna and Danny Petruss of Spokane, Naomi Wicker of Spokane, Esther and Bob Townsend of Punta Gorda, Florida; daughter-in-law Patricia Albin; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The farewell for Ethel will be Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wenatchee City Cemetery and the Tribute will be held at the Braun Funeral Home Chapel on March 29, 2003 at 12:30 p.m. A time of visitation will be Friday, March 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Braun Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a gift may be given to your favorite charity.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones and Jones Funeral Directors.
