Catherine Selina Allen was born in Drydraton, Cambridge Shire, England, November 23, 1864, and departed from this life at the St. Francis Hospital, Grand Island, Nebraska, August 31, 1943, aged 73 years, nine months and eight days.

When she was seven years old, her parents came to America and settled near Langworthy, Iowa. Here she grew to young womanhood, and on Jul 4, 1882, she was united in marriage to Ulysses Grant Albertson. To this union were born three children; Clark D., who died October 24, 1907, Nellie Albertson Kiser, who resides near Delphos, and Gladys Ann, who died January 8, 1904, at Monticello, Iowa.

The deceased is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kiser; the following grandchildren, Mrs. Harry B. White, of Dannebrog, Nebraska, Mrs. Irl Eppler and Grant E. Kiser of Delphos, and Mrs. Vern Carver of Miltonvale, Kansas. She also leaves to mourn her loss, nine great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Fannie Cleveland of Mountain View, Mo., and many relatives, besides a host of friends.

Her husband, U.G. Albertson, preceded her in death on March 7, 1923, and one grandson, Theodore Albertson, on August 30, 1941.

Mrs. Albertson was also mother to the children of her deceased son, Clark D. Albertson, who died in Denver when Theodore was not quite three years old and two weeks before Catherine was born. Seven days after Catherine's birth, the mother passed into the Great Beyond, and the two orphan children came immediately to live with the grandparents who did all an own father and mother could do for them.

The deceased first came to Kansas in 1886, and after short residence in Iowa, returned to Kansas August 1, 1906.

She had always been a member of the church, first at Lamar, Kansas, and after moving to Delphos became a member of the Presbyterian Church on September 25, 1921. She was always an active member in the church, helping in the different activities whenever possible.
She joined the Rebekah Lodge of Delphos on April 11, 1911, and received her twenty-five year jewel in April, 1936. She took great interest in the Lodge in her younger days, and enjoyed the Past Noble Grand's Club very much. She also belonged to the Delphic Club for many years until it was disbanded.

Four weeks ago she was injured in a fall at her granddaughter's home, and although she was rushed to the hospital and everything done that human hands can do, the shock and injury proved too great for her to endure. With her at the time of her death were her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Kiser, and her granddaughters, Mrs. Harry White and Mrs. Mary Albertson.

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me!
Let there be no moaning of the bar
When I put out to sea.

But such a tide as moving seems asleep
Too full for sand or foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark.

For tho' from out our bourne of time and place
The flood may bear me far
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
-Alfred Lord Tennyson
