Mr. William H. "Sonny" Akins, 43, 5336 Union Circle, Flowery Branch, GA died Saturday, September 3 following an illness of several months. He was born in Cedartown on March 23, 1951, a son of the late Charlie H. Akins and Mae Shepard Akins. Mr. Akins had lived most of his life in the Chicago, Illinois area where he worked as a residential painter. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Sonya Akins, Burbank, Illinois; four sisters; Mrs. Lois Yowell, Columbia, TN; Mrs. Charlotte Chaloka, San Jose, California, Mrs. Lillian Gammill, Anniston, AL and Ms. Charlotte Joan Akins, Flowery Branch; a number of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Alvis Miller officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
