Burial will be in the Rehobeth Cemetery, under the direction of Don Lipsey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Akins died Friday morning, Dec. 6, at Panola General Hospital in Carthage.
She was born July 20, 1902, to Francis Marion Chadwick and Leila Adele Westmoreland in the Rehobeth Community in Panola County, Texas. She had been a resident of Panola County all of her life.
A homemaker, Mrs. Akins was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Corbett Akins, who passed away in May of 1988.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Brodie and Pattie Akins, of Carthage; three grandsons and one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Guy Bunyard, Ross Johnson, Gene Giles, Bryan Murff, Jim Young, L.E. Reeves Jr. and Mike Ross.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department.
Visitation will be Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7, beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Old Jail Museum in Carthage.
