Carlton Max Akins, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 30, 2016, at his residence.
Max was the son of the late Grady Lee Akins and Nellie Tolbert Akins. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nanette Otting, and by a brother, Danny Holder.
Mr. Akins was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was of the Christian faith and worked for a number of years as a wrecker driver for Otting's in Lindale.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016, at 2 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 12 noon until the service time.
