Bunny Parks Akins, 49, died Thursday at Bulloch Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
The Ben Hill County native spent her childhood in Manchester. She was employed at Georgia Southern University as director of archives and records management.
Survivors include her husband, Bulloch County Sheriff Arnold Ray Akins; one daughter, Julianna Akins, Statesboro; two sisters, Faye Castille, Orange Park, FL, and Margaret Schu, Fernandina Beach, FL; and two brothers, Murray Parks, Manchester, and William Parks, Waycross.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Turner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Johnny McGlamery, David Bobo, Ellis Wood, John Daley, Kevin Cook, Russell Daughtry, Paul Akins, and Dr. Jack Averitt.
Remembrances may be made to the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes, P.O. Box 100, Hahira, GA 33632.
